I found some Ramen noodles in the cabinet that are at least two years old. I think they were from 2005.
So I ate them (minus the “flavor” packet.)
Good news!
They taste just as bad three years later.

So you either ate some ramen left in the cupboard by the previous owners or moved that package of old chickeny ramen to NC from VA.
